About the Film

‘Soske’, in the Roma language, means ‘why’. Refugees are like the Roma: people pity them, initially try to help, but at the same time don’t want them as neighbors. On three simultaneous screens, the film shows three refugees who have found a new home in the Netherlands. Perrera, a doctor from Sri Lanka, Veronique, a diplomat from Burundi, and Luba, an actress from Chechnya, had successful careers in their homelands, but war forced them to interrupt their previous lives and start anew. They remember the past, hope for the future, and wait…
