Youth for youth – encouraging the development of school film clubs

Mladi mladima – poticanje razvoja filmskih družina u novim sredinama

Through this program, intended for primary and secondary school children—especially in areas where film art is underrepresented—the Croatian Film Association aims to stimulate the creation and growth of film clubs by organizing audiovisual creative workshops in new communities.

The project’s goal is to encourage established film clubs dedicated to working with children and youth to become “mentoring clubs” for emerging school film groups in nearby areas, thus initiating audiovisual creativity in regions where it has not yet taken root.

In addition to promoting literacy and teaching essential knowledge and skills in audiovisual creation—including theoretical, technical, and practical aspects—working on film fosters peer tolerance, encourages creativity, and develops critical thinking in young creators.

The long-term aim of this educational initiative is not only to transfer knowledge and skills for the purpose of producing a specific film, but also to motivate children and educators to establish their own film clubs and support their further institutional and programmatic development.

In the 2024/2025 school year, the project is being implemented in partnership with Kino Klub Sisak at Braća Bobetko Primary School and with Šipan Film School at Župa Dubrovačka Primary School. Workshop leaders: Matija Holjevac and Miro Bronzić.
