The "Dr. Ante Peterlić" School of Media Culture is an educational program that has, over the course of 26 years, welcomed more than 3,000 participants.
The School represents a valuable contribution to the development of film culture within the framework of Croatian language and literature education in schools. This is supported by the fact that the School operates with the recommendation of the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth of the Republic of Croatia, based on a positive expert opinion from the Agency for Education and Training. It is the most comprehensive non-institutional film education program of the Croatian Film Association (HFS), and was recognized at a thematic session of the Croatian Parliament on “Media Literacy for the Safety of Children in the World of Media and the Internet” as a leading initiative in the development and promotion of audiovisual literacy, film, and media culture among children and youth.
The objectives and purpose of the School of Media Culture are twofold: First, it provides teachers and educators—especially those who need it—with foundational knowledge to support their teaching (including the basics of media theory, film language, major film genres, intermedial connections, and methodical workshops). Through its practical workshops, participants also gain valuable hands-on creative experience that can enhance their classroom teaching and enable more informed work with students. Second, the School supports lifelong learning for teachers and interested individuals, offering them specialized educational programs with fresh and relevant topics each year.
The program is also open to anyone seeking to acquire or expand their film education.
