The film explores the experience of space and time through the relationship of sound, rhythm, and image. The sonic and rhythmic foundation of the film is a special Aikido breathing exercise, whose repetition in various rhythms draws the viewer into a meditative state. The visual segment investigates the passage of time and the perception of space through accelerated, slowed, and overlapping shots, while the frame division is synchronized with the sound. The film begins and ends with shots of the sky and the unrolling of paper, creating a cyclical structure that emphasizes the subjectivity of perception. Through media manipulation, new experiences of time and space are opened – ones impossible to experience in the “real” world.
