Niner Stretch

A cinematic attempt to reconstruct the social context of a ritual object – a knife – which the author received as a gift 14 years ago. The journey to Fez and Marrakech is enriched by exploring the circumstances linking the African continent, French civil servants, and an artist from Zagreb. Along the line of cinematic coincidences, besides the knife, appear an old Antonioni film (Professione: reporter, 1975), the Dubrovnik air fleet, the “long nine” (a quarter-century-old plane from the DC-9 series), Marrakech pastry shops, and Abraham’s sacrifice.
