Mihovil Pansini – Ships Don't Come Ashore

It is well known that film has its poets. However, that Mihovil Pansini is one of the most lucid and significant poets of film in the territory of the former shared state is less known to the wider public – primarily because he worked exclusively in non-professional film. The fate of non-professional film in our regions is such that, although for the past fifty years it has represented the only authentic avant-garde in the field of film expression, it has never (and probably never will) be sufficiently recognized and valued by the public. Through Pansini’s reflections and excerpts from his films, this documentary attempts to reconstruct the cinematic development of this extraordinary author.
