Le Samouraï

In this twenty-two-minute unique cinematic record, filmed entirely within the four walls of avant-garde artist Tomislav Gotovac’s apartment, the director seeks not only to document a fascinating body of work and pay tribute to a great artist and friend, but also to create another – yet different – deeply personal film about an artist in his private space. A film about being “with oneself,” about moments when melancholy, sadness, and solitude surface and are felt – emotions familiar to all of us, which this artist, as he did throughout his life, fearlessly exposed and embedded into his work. It is precisely this essence the director attempts to convey in a film with Tomislav Gotovac, about Tomislav Gotovac.
