Shattered Pieces

The experimental film Krhotine combines animated and documentary materials and is inspired by the book of the same name by Željka Čorak. The main impetus for creating the film arises from the family history shared by the director and the book’s author. In the film, Željka appears as the narrator – the bearer of history to Jelena. As the title of both the film and the book suggests, it deals with fragments of history, people, and objects. Alongside an interview with her aunt, the director interprets memories through the medium of animation, creating the effect of a mist of memories that continuously intertwines with the narrative reality.
