Marija was born in Yugoslavia but spent most of her life in Croatia. Her family still upholds Yugoslav ideals, which, as a Serbian family that remained in Croatia despite the pressures of war, felt closest to their identity. Marija had always believed that the values of her family were also her own – until life took her in a different direction. After starting a family of her own, she began to question those inherited values and her place within them. Through a journey into her family's past, she makes the decision to start anew and moves to Sweden, where she builds a new home. The film follows Marija’s coming of age as she constructs her own identity, free from family taboos and the weight of collective heritage.
