ENDART is a continuation of the project V.I.R.á.G., a work in progress based on the eighteen letters of the first intoned sentence in James Joyce’s novel Ulysses: "Introibo ad altare Dei." The sentence contains nineteen letters, but when “closed” into a ring, the first and last letters merge, resulting in eighteen “closed” letters — without beginning or end, in a circular flow. The eighteen letters correspond to the eighteen parts of Ulysses, while the “closed circle” essentially reflects Joyce’s Finnegans Wake. Each letter is the title of a short filmic scene, which is an independent micro-unit (a fractal), but at the same time shapes the structure of the whole. In the “final” stage, the project will consist of eighteen video-film scenes, “interrupted” by the eighteen letters of the sentence. The title ENDART will be inserted in only one place, simultaneously marking both the “beginning” and the “end” of the projection. Thus, each viewer will individually determine the “start” and “finish” of this “infinite film.”
