Association for the Promotion of Culture DOKUart

DOKUart is a non-profit NGO founded in 2008, run by five active volunteers. It annually organizes the DOKUart Festival, an international documentary film festival curated by Rada Šešić, held every October for seven days and attracting over 3,000 viewers. The festival features renowned filmmakers and awards two prizes: the Audience Award and the Youth Jury Award, chosen by Bjelovar high school students. It also tours local communities and has hosted screenings in Zagreb.

DOKUart runs educational programs like the Little DOKUart competition for young documentary filmmakers and a five-day DOKUworkshop for primary school students to develop documentary film skills. Until 2013, it held film screenings at the Cultural Center in Bjelovar, offering diverse film programs, until the new Cultural and Multimedia Center opened with modern digital cinema equipment where the festival is now held.

Additional activities include lectures, exhibitions, and concerts, supporting cultural development in the region.
