The RARE Association was founded in 2006 and is based in Vinkovci.
As part of the EDIT (Education and Training) program, RARE successfully implemented the EDIT - Internet TV project in 2012/2013, funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (MZOS). This was followed by EDIT-Sport, EDIT-Comics, and EDIT-Physics, also supported by the MZOS. One segment of the EDIT program was the Antique Film Nights project, carried out over 5 years in partnership with the Vinkovci City Museum.
The Association also successfully ran the “Summer Cinema in the Library” project for two years, in collaboration with the Vinkovci City Library. Educational workshops, presentations of professional literature, film screenings, and program exchanges with related associations and institutions are the foundation of the EDIT program.
Additionally, for 18 consecutive years, RARE has organized the DORF Festival – unique Festival of Documentary Rock Film – which has become a recognized regional event with a rich side program. Very important feature of DORF is its guest appearances in other cities: to date, it has visited 86 cities across 5 countries, including a special edition “DORF in Vienna.”
RARE has participated in two projects funded through the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme between Croatia and Serbia and carried out the Fresh Danube Films project funded by the European Cultural Foundation. RARE was also the first association from Vinkovci to implement an EVS – Youth in Action project, hosting a volunteer from Spain.
The association's projects are supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, Kultura Nova Foundation, the City of Vinkovci, and Vukovar-Srijem County.
