Šipan Film School

Šipan Film School has been active since 2007 and, through workshops and evening cinema screenings, has become an essential part of the cultural life of the island of Šipan and the wider Dubrovnik region. The “Summer Film School Šipan” program has established itself as one of the leading cultural events in the field of film art for children and youth. The most important focus of the Summer Film School Šipan is the development of film and media competencies and the application of new technologies and media among children. Šipan Film School strives to provide children and youth with a professional environment where they can develop all their ideas and bring their concepts to the final result: a finished film. At the same time, alongside the workshop program, residents of Šipan and visitors to the island participate in the creative atmosphere of the film island, enjoying programs organized in the idyllic setting of the island’s open-air cinema. Šipan Film School cooperates with the Dubrovnik Cinematographers institution and is a co-organizer of DUFF – the Festival of Film Creation for Children and Youth of Mediterranean Countries held in Dubrovnik. The association participates in domestic and international film reviews and festivals and has frequently received multiple awards. In 2024, the association was awarded the City of Dubrovnik Award, and in 2025 it received the Annual Award from the Croatian Association of Technical Culture for the year 2024.
