Multimedia Center SKIG (MMC SKIG) is a cultural and educational association based in Gunja, with a rich tradition dating back to 1973. That year, Josip Krunić, a Croatian language and literature teacher, began his work at the Gunja elementary school and founded the Studio of Creative Ideas Gunja (SKIG). The studio evolved from the school’s Literary-Journalistic Club “Dragutin Tadijanović,” which had existed since 1960. SKIG’s creative journey began with print media, expanded to radio broadcasts in 1974, and television production in 1995. In 2003, the studio launched its film and video activities, which quickly became its most recognizable and awarded area, both nationally and internationally. To ensure continuity after Krunić's retirement in 2011, the Multimedia Center SKIG was officially established as an association in 2009, initiated by Saša Dugonjić, a former student and journalist, with the goal of preserving and developing SKIG’s rich legacy.
Today, MMC SKIG is led by a team of Krunić’s former students — president and director of photography Marinko Marinkić, vice president Mario Mateljić, and secretary Dr. Anita Tufekčić. Director Marko Dugonjić also plays a key role in the organization, contributing to projects and mentoring young filmmakers.
From 2015 to the end of 2024, under the guidance of school librarian Dr. Anita Tufekčić, young members of MMC SKIG (the “Young SKIG Team”) produced 35 films (mainly documentaries and TV reports), 5 animated films, and 1 radio broadcast. Their work has been awarded at numerous national children’s film showcases and festivals, including the Croatian Children’s Film Review, FIFES, the Croatian School Film Review, DUff, the Children’s Philanthropic Film Festival, and the Festival of Children’s Rights.
Thanks to its consistent efforts, MMC SKIG is now recognized as a key driver of cultural and media activity in the local community, with filmmaking becoming a vital part of Gunja’s identity.
