The children's festival jury on KinoKino festival and talented young filmmakers from elementary school Rudeš
KinoKino – International Children’s Film Festival will be held from 16th until 20th of March in cinema Europa in Zagreb. It is organized by Zagreb Film Festival team and during the five days of the festival thirty films for children will be shown. Goal of the festival is to contribute to creation of new generations of cinema audience and future film lovers so next to a professional, movies will be judged by children’s jury as well. Cooperation between Croatian Film Association and KinoKino lead to including young talents from Rudeš Elementary School, Lovro Svetina and Katarina Jukić into children’s jury. CFA suggested including them into children’s jury based on their previous success on the Croatian Children’s Film Festival, the only event in Croatian dedicated exclusively to film creation of elementary school students with the tradition of over half a century.
Both Lovro and Katarina are 15 years old and in 8th grade and for years have been members of film group within their school. Katarina worked as a main editor on numerous films that won prizes and awards such as an award on the Children’s Film Festival in 2014 for a documentary “Katica za sve”. Lovro’s biggest success is an award at the Children’s Film Festival in 2015 for a movie Copy Paste for which he wrote the script. They will be watching and analyzing competitive program of the festival with children’s films from all over the world, from Australia and South Korea to India and Sweden. Since Lovro and Katarina acquired valuable film experience through their work so far, we have no doubt that they will analyze and discuss shown films with their peers like true film lovers.
Besides the competitive program of recent long and short films, during the festival, film classics for children will be shown. Screenings will be followed by debates with film experts and numerous workshops for children that will be lead by experts from various cultural, artistic and social fields. We wish the festival a successful start and to young film lovers pleasant and fun film watching.
