THEORETICAL PROGRAM FOR MENTORS
Wednesday, September, 7th, 2.30 p.m.: Master class by Ana Đordić and Jelena Modrić: Technique of Film classes
Why is, besides in video groups and similar clubs, important to implement film in general educational system as a class and what is the interest of students for such subject and how to even teach about film are just some of issues from this interesting master class by Croatian language and Media Culture professor Ana Đordić and editor Jelena Modrić dedicated mainly to teachers and mentors but also to everyone who loves film and film approach to analysis and interpretation of several short films appropriate for high school classes.
Thursday, September, 8th/ Friday, September, 9th, 2.30 p.m.: Relativity School – „Work in progress” & „Pack&Pitch”
Relativity School from LA is one of the most prestigious film programs in USA, which was created closely with Hollywood film studios. Mentors from the School are coming to our Festivals to hold two workshops:
a) „Work in progress”, September, 8th – jury had selected films within Youth Film Festival and FRFF that had not made it into competitive program and still had strong potential. Representatives of the School will watch films together with their authors and other participants of the Festival and give them feedback to better work on them in the future.
b) “Pack&Pitch”, September, 9th – before the festival, mini competition was opened for development of film story where participants had to send their ideas for films according to some guidelines (duration, locations, genre…). Five film ideas were selected that will be further developed with mentors from the School in a form of a pitch to all participants of the festival. Author of the best pitch will win the participation at the workshop within next Relativity School Workshop.
Friday, September, 9th, 2.30 p.m.: Master class by Nikola Janković: Why does soup taste better when its main ingredient is good sound?
Sometimes it looks like we don’t pay enough attention to sound on film but this is why we have sound designer Nikola Janković that will enrich participants of his master class with unexpected facts and realizations about incredible importance of clear sound image on film.
