Four River Film Festival in Wels and Hannover
Members of Kinoklub Karlovac visited film festivals representing Croatian Film Association and their club. Nika Čunović and Matija Žibrat spent time in Wels in Austria at the 17th International Youth Media Projects Festival YOUKI. YOUKI is an international platform during which numerous events are happening popularizing media culture – film workshops, lectures on film theory, press, radio and Internet and special program „Media Meeting“ we well as many artistic programs and concerts that promote media in urban areas. Competitive part of YOUKI is targeted to youth filmmakers ages 10 to 26. They cover the same age group as Four River Film Festival where youth aging 14 to 20 competes with their work and mutual visits of youth from Karlovac and Austria have been happening for several years.
At the same time Lea Štranjgar and Sanja Zanki participated at Youth Cinema Network Conference within Up-and-Coming Film Festival in Hannover Germany. Youth Cinema Network was founded in Karlovac within Youth Film Festival and Four River Film Festival in 2013 and besides Karlovac, conferences were held in Troms in Norway, Dubrovnik and Gornji Milanovac in Serbia. Smaller meetings were also held like the one in Berlin in October where Lea participated.
Lea and Sanja met with representatives of festivals from Wales, Slovenia, Norway, London, Denmark and Belgium in Hannover and held meetings with Dan Thomas that conducts a research about children and youth film festivals. Some of current focuses of YCN work are organization of Global Young Filmmakers Day and a new design of the web site as well as different possibilities of connecting of different festivals and other partners.
This week members of Kinoklub Karlovac are traveling to Zaragoza Film Festival in Spain and Camera Zizanio in Pyrgos in Grece.
