The Largest Number of Croatian Representatives so Far at Griffoni Experience Festival!
Croatian delegation returned from Griffoni Experience Film Festival, one of the largest international children and youth film festivals, which took place from 15th until 24th of June in Italian town Griffoni. Festival’s specialty is that children and youth are judging films made for them. This year festival organizers sent record breaking seven invitations for young filmmakers from Croatia, and by doing so have confirmed their successful cooperation with Croatian Film Association and their members. Three of our young filmmakers have participated in special and four in regular festival jury.
Justifying their earlier participation at a festival, special invitations went to Rebeka Čuljak from Zaprešić, Miran Ratković from Karlovac and Tin Ostrošić from Slatina. This was Tin’s second and Rebeka’s and Miran’s third visit to the festival. While they were there they were discussing films as members of special jury in 16+ category. Miran got a chance to be selected in a group of five festival participants to meet and greet this year’s special festival guest, Hollywood actor Jennifer Aniston.
As a reward for their outstanding talent that was shown in filmmaking, four young Croatian filmmakers participated in the work of regular jury at Griffoni Festival. Petra Veselin from Ivanka Tohar Elementary School from Fužine and Katarina Jukić from Rudeš Elementary School participated in 13+ jury. Mario Mateljić and Mirsad Mahmutović from Studio Kreativnih Ideja from Gunja participated in 16+ regular jury. Croatian delegation was mentored by Croatian language and Media Culture professor and long term associate of CFA, Ana Đordić.
Sending our young delegations to film festival and workshops allows them to acquire new friendships and knowledge through discussions and team work. Spending time with people of the same age and with similar interest from various countries around the world is an ideal surrounding for tackling all cultural obstacles, as well as for implementing all ready learned knowledge and experiences. Our team came back from Griffoni full of impressions and richer for some great discussions and valuable contacts, some of them even being acting superstars. We hope to see them using their new experience in some new, award winning films soon!
