Largest delegation of our young filmmakers to Giffoni Experience in Italy so far!
Organizers of Griffoni Experience Festival that will be held in July in an Italian town Griffoni sent an invitation to seven young filmmakers from Croatian. That way succesfull cooperation of the Festival and Croatian Film Association and young filmmakers from its member organizations included two additional spaces for our representatives. Cooperation of CFA and the Festival started in 2014 when three young filmmakers participated at Griffoni while five of them were invited the following year. Organizers try to chose different participants each year so more people would get the chance to visit the Festival while the special invitations are sent only to the extremely successful ones from the previous Festival. This year we will have three young film lovers in the special jury and four in the regular jury of the Festival.
By justifying their previous participation at the Festival, young filmmakers Rebeka Čuljak from Zaprešić, Miran Ratković from Karlovac and Tin Ostrošić from Slatina received a special invitation to travel back to south of Italy this year. This will be Tin’s second and Rebeka’s and Miran’s third visit to the festival. They will see films and discuss them as special members of the jury in the 16+ age group. Also, they will be accompanied by four young filmmakers in different age groups. It is important to mention that the participation at the festival is an award to the best filmmakers so the winners of the Croatia Children’s Film Festival and Youth Film Festival will be sent to Griffoni. This year their mentor will again be a Croatian language and media culture professor and long time CFA associate, Ana Đordić.
Griffoni Experience was one of the largest international festivals for children and youth since its beginnings in 1971 while this little Italian town is visited by over 3500 children. Festival program is made films made by professionals for children and youth while shown films are judged by the youth. It is interesting that organizers created a festival franchise that spread to all ends of the world with the goal of creating a network of young film professionals and film lovers. Under Griffoni brand, amongst others there are Griffoni Hollywood, Griffoni Australia, Griffoni Brazil…
Croatian Film Association also has a successful cooperation with two more European festivals from the Griffoni franchise, Griffoni Macedonia and Griffoni Georgia. For example, besides sending young jurors to Macedonia, Croatian delegation organized various workshops. Next to connecting our young talents with their peers from around the world, role that Croatian representatives play in positioning Croatian youth film creation on the world map is extremely important. While congratulating Rebeka, Miran and Tin on their accomplishments we wish the whole Croatian delegation many new friendships and valuable discussions at this year's festival.
