Youth jury

1. Domenico Di Micco, Italija
Hi everyone! I'm Domenico from Italy, I'm 19 and this is my first time in Croatia. Back in Italy I've been a juror at the Giffoni film festival over the last 4 years but I have never been here before and I’ve been looking forward to it for the whole year! At the moment, I study Environmental Engineering at university, and in my free time I dance. Still, one of my main interests is cinema, of course. I'd describe myself as spry, curious, empathetic but rather stubborn sometimes.
My experience over the last 4 years has made me realize how much I love to take part in such stimulating international contexts, especially those related to to the arts, both visual and performing.
In my opinion the role of cinema is to educate people and communicate with them, and I strongly believe in the importance of sevents like this one in spreading this message.

Hi, I’m Matteo from Salerno I’m 18 years old. I’ve been attending the Giffoni Film Festival for three years. I attend a language-oriented high school and I speak four languages. Those are Italian, English, French and Spanish.
Last year I hosted a Croatian guy, and it was an amazing experience, I still keep in touch with him and I hope to see him again. My festival has given me the change to come to the Four River Film Festival. I hope to make new friends and learn more about films.

5. Sabrina Serio, Italija
My name is Sabrina Serio, I am 17 years old and I live in Salerno, Italy.
I am currently in high school, but I would like to pursue a career in languages.
My hobbies include watching films (of course!), listening to music, reading and playing the ukulele.
Cinema has always been a passion, together with reading. Since I was a kid, in fact, I've always loved going to see films with my parents.
Anyway, I also love traveling abroad! I have already been to Croatia with my parents and I can't wait to come back again!
I've also visited Paris, London, Malta and New York City.
I am quite a shy person, but I hope to make some new friends during my stay!

6. Victoria Böhmberger, Austrija
Victoria is nineteen years old, lives in Leonding (Austria) and is student of the Higher Secondary School for Art in Linz (HBLA für künstlerische Gestaltung), where she started making, watching and reflecting on videos in class in 2017. Her first video was a group project titled “wonderspice”, a fictional commercial about an amazing spice, which transforms not only a disgusting meal but also the cook's husband.

7. Leonie Schober, Austrija
Leonie is also nineteen, lives in Linz (Austria) and is attending the same grade as Victoria at the Higher Secondary School for Art in Linz. Last year she attended a class called “video&film”, where she has not only learned to use a DSLR camera and make videos, but also the basics of film theory. “Spotifine” is the title of her video commercial, the name of a fictional App, which manipulates the protagonist's reality.

8. Edi Erceg, Hrvatska
I was born in Zagreb on March 29, 2002. I live in Krapinske Toplice, where I attended elementary school. I am currently an 11th grade student at the "Antun Gustav Matoš" High School in Zabok. I would like to become a professional filmmaker, so I've participated in a number of film workshops, such as Camp RED Pula (2013), the Kraljevica Film Workshops for Children and Youth (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) and the "Dr. Ante Peterlić" School of Media Culture (2018). I'm also a member of the “MAG” Drama Club, whose play "Krim Tim 3" was quite successful at this year's LiDraNo, a national festival showcasing the works of schoolchildren in creative writing, performance arts and journalism. This year, I also volunteered at the Pula Film Festival.
I love film because it takes me to a myriad of other worlds. I would like to foray into film some day. I've been to Pula, Kraljevica and Varaždin, so – Karlovac, here I come!!

9. Špela Štrucl, Slovenija
I'm 18 years old and I'm a senior at the 3rd High School in Maribor. I am a versatile artist and sportswoman, the winner of a dance scholarship. Five years ago, my Mom bought me my first camera, so I could capture travel memories. This ignited my passion for photography, and later for film. My favorite films are Chasing Mavericks, because I'm in love with the ocean, and Les Miserables, because of the wonderful soundtrack and the honesty with which it portrays the cruelty of life.

10. Nika Šoštarić, Slovenija
I'm an 11th grade student at the 2nd High School in Maribor. In my free time I like to dance, read, write and do theater and film. I even made some films myself. My favorite film is Rear Window by the famous director Alfred Hitchcock. I'm a big fan of thriller as a genre and the cast in this film is simply one of the greatest. I'm not sure what to expect in Karlovac, but I hope I will have the chance to see the films of people close to my age and, of course, I hope to have a chance to hang out with those who share my interests.

11. Lucija Klavž, Slovenija
I'm enjoying the final days of my last summer holiday before going off to university, so I'm delighted to be able to spend a couple of days in a new place with fellow cinephiles. My favorite film is "Happy Together". When I don't watch movies, I draw, write, paint, take photographs, read, attend theater plays and exhibitions, and travel. I hope to make some really great memories at the festival.

12. Mario Petar Bišćan, Hrvatska
I am a classical music fan and history buff, with a wide range of interests ranging from film, acting and music, to playing computer games and horse-riding. I am a huge fan of Waterloo and the TV show Hornblower. However, I have a special place in my heart for two films: With Fire and Sword, which shaped my childhood with its impeccable acting, attention to detail and history, and Amadeus, which is so good I would not even know where to begin: from the superb scene selection and costuming, to the careful transitions between scenes, all accompanied by excellent music. I expect only good things from this festival and I am sure I won't be disappointed. In addition to everything else, I expect to learn something and form new friendships and acquaintances.

13. Vida Terze, Hrvatska
I am a 10th grade student at the 2nd High School in Zagreb. I've always enjoyed writing and films. My favorites are Call Me By Your Name by Luca Guadagnino, The Killing of A Sacred Deer by Yorgos Lanthimos and Cloud Atlas by the Wachowski sisters and Tom Tykwer. I was immediately drawn to Call Me By Your Name, an adaptation of André Aciman's book of the same name, because of its honesty and an excellent performance by the lead actor, Timothée Chalamet. I've enjoyed The Killing of A Sacred Deer for its general atmosphere and innovative plot, while Cloud Atlas won me over with its complexity and the skill with which the six storylines are combined to form the larger, universal plot. Last year, I wrote the screenplay for our school film. My dream is to become a writer and dramatist.

14. Matej Stanojević, Makedonija
Matej Stanojević is a high school graduate with a big passion for movies and cinema. My lifelong dream is to become a famous director and/or actor. My interest towards the cinema and theatre sparked when I was just seven years old. I used to put on puppet shows and shoot short home videos that I would then present to my family. At age 13, I directed and acted in my very first theatre play in collaboration with Red Cross called ''Snow White and The Huntsman'' which was a mix of the Disney classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and the movie “Snow White and the Huntsman” along with some modern twists. It was made for children at the age of 6-10. Its main goal besides entertainment was raising money for a charity. After that play I continued on to be a part of Youth's Educational Forum's performance group called Kunstwerkstatt. I took part in one performance under the name ''There Will Be War'' which was a modern showing on how the society in modern time has developed and how it's capable of destruction. With the beginning of Giffoni Film Festival Macedonia I had the chance to make a couple of movies, all with different genres. The names of some of those movies are ''The Awakening'', ''Do You Love Me Now...''; etc. Independently, I have worked on many projects which include music videos, short documentaries, short movies and commercials.
