Relja Bašić – An Actor for all Mediums
An extensive bio-filmographical
interview with the renown Croatian theater and film actor
Relja Bašić.
In 1995. Relja Bašić (born Zagreb, February
14 1930) celebrated 40 years of acting in theater and in
film (his first film role being remarkable episode in Concert /Koncert/
directed by Branko Belan, 1954; and the most celebrated
roles were in Krešo Golik’s I Have Two Moms and Two
Dads/Imam dvije mame i dva tate, 1968, and Who
Sings Means no Harm/Tko pjeva zlo ne misli),
1970. In the interview form, Bašić recounts his family
and early years, and his education years (he started education
for a sea officer, and worked on ships for awhile, but
then entered and finished Academy of Theatrical Art in
Zagreb). Then he talks about his work as theatrical (mostly
comic) actor, as a director/actor of travelling Theatrical
group Teatar u gostima (Theater in Visit) which he initiated
and lead (which have given a host of performances over
the Croatia and Ex-Yugoslavia, and about his experiences
with film roles and film directors.
