The book by Alexander Garcia Duttmann, Visconti: Insights in Flesh and Blood is a philosophical study about Luchino Visconti’s films in which the author thinks that the works of this Italian director should not be analyzed by focusing exclusively on their visual and aesthetic component but by applying critical and interpretative context inherited from the T. W. Adorno’s philosophy. The basic book thesis is that Visconti’s films show that precisely the possible and not the real state stands in the way of utopia.
