Observer from the blue beach – Miroslav Mikuljan’s work on film and television

The facts on the work by Miroslav Mikuljan do not justify his dominantly marginal status in national film studies and this paper reminds us of the importance of Mikuljan’s work on television which is to a high degree complementary to his work on (primarily) documentary film. Although Zoran Tadić and Diana Nenadić started to re-evaluate his work in their texts, much more effort has to be made. That is why this text places the author in the context of his time, among authors such as Mihovil Pansini, Tomislav Gotovac and Edo Galić. The peaks of Mikuljan’s (first of all cinematic) documentarism are analyzed, marking the coordinates for future researchers.
