Before and after Good Morning

The author of the text, the producer of the 2007 feature-length documentary Good Morning (Dobro jutro)by Ante Babaja and Babaja’s close associate in the final years of his life, describes how the director’s final piece of work was created and discusses in detail the problems Babaja and his associates were faced with. Also mentioning other plans (and films) of this classic of Croatian film in his later years, the text describes how technological developments made it easier for directors to realize their artistic ideas. However, considering the fact that we are talking about documentary film, the text also describes Babaja’s life during that period and tries to define his role in Croatian society and cinema of the time, with evident indications of the posthumous treatment of one of the most important Croatian film directors ever.
