FROM THE HISTORY OF CROATIAN CINEMA
Oktavijan Miletić’s lost film — found?
The author describes fruits of his research conducted in film archives in Vienna, where he researched the period of Independent State of Croatia. He notes the possibility that Oktavijan Miletić directed the film Kroatisches Bauernleben (Croatian peasant living), first screened in Münich, in 1942. In 1943, it was also screened in Crotian cinemas. A copy found in Vienna, if indeed it is Miletić’s film, is only to the author’s credit, because it was obviously not subordinated to the demands of Nazi propaganda, and has significant value. Author also writes about the film People in Storm (Menschen im Sturm) by Fritz Peter Buch, a typical example of German propaganda, about which Vienna archives has only promotional material.
