Petar Krelja — Golik
A book review of the monograph
on the late Croatian director Krešo Golik (Petar Krelja
ed., 1997, Golik, Zagreb: The Croatian National
Archive).
The editor of the book and the author of the leading
study on Golik’s work is film critic and film director
Petar Krelja. In addition to the leading study, there is
a compilation of contemporary interviews with Golik, a
collection of contemporary critical reactions and a chapter
of personal »Recollections« by Golik’s students and colleagues.
The book is supplied with a selective bibliography on Golik
and his complete filmography. The Introduction and Summary
are also given in the English language.
In a review of the monograph by Petar Krelja: Golik,
Zagreb, 1997, the reviewer gives an exhaustive critical
analysis of the book, often arguing with the opinions expressed
in it. The mosaic-compilation structure of the work contains
original essays by the author and a series of articles
(most of them previously published) about Krešo Golik.
It is an adequate approach to the work of that Croatian
film classic. That type of approach unites the positions
of authors (critics) of various generations and various
methodical starting points, which give the book a welcome
diversity and dynamic. At the same time it offers a good
model for future monographs of relevant Croatian film authors
with complete opuses. An exceptionally useful section of
the book includes Golik’s filmography as well as an extensive
bibliography of the texts regarding his films. The book
has English summaries of the introduction and several representative
articles. Damir Radić |
