INTEPRETATIONS, INTEPRETATIVE CONTESTS
Murderers Among Us (Das Lied ist aus, by Ivan Faktor)
In the film The Song is Over (Das
Lied ist aus), Ivan Faktor uses the soundtrack of Lang’s
film M and combines it with shots of Osijek in ruins,
in order to invoke the terror that aroused Lang’s presentation
of child killer. Raising the issue of memories (with the
inserts from R. Scott’s Blade Runner), the author
suggests that the scariest memories are hard to believe
in.
Faktor’s work correlates the two themes into a firm,
impressive whole, in which individual segments motivate
each other, and rhetorically accentuate each other’s impact.
The final idea is that an irrational evil lurks behind
the reality shown in The Song is Over so that it
can easily cross the line that should prevent it from destroying
and killing children. Nikica Gilić |
