The focus of this text is placed on two narratives –
the life narrative and the film narrative as an attempt
to reproduce life. His starting thesis is that film narrative
is the only way to express life in its original
form, with all its vagueness, unpredictability and incompleteness.
As a key example to support this thesis
the author uses films by Turkish director and the most
important representative of the new Turkish film Nuri
Bilge Ceylan. On this unchartered and unsafe road,
beginning already from Aristotle, we meet Ceylan’s
short film Cacoon (Koza, 1995), whose guidelines help
us meet some talking photographs. We pass through
a small town too – Kasaba (1997), Three Monkeys (Üç
maymun
, 2008) tell us their life narratives, and our
journey ends somewhere in the grasslands of Anatolia
Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (Bir zamanlar
Anadolu’da
, 2011).
