(Un)successful Pornographic Tendencies — Feminist Perspective

A sequel polemics on film Base moi. Pornographic presentation of sexuality is based on certain narrative and iconographic patterns that mostly follow the logic of male pleasure and eyes. Baise-Moi is a successful attempt to characterize these already naturalized procedures as odd. Emphasizing the link between the pleasure and power, the film overturns pornographic hierarchy and offers a politically (and artistically) intriguing reinvention. The text deals with the issue of women and pornography, questioning the possibility of subversive reading of the genre.
