In the twenty-two minutes of this unique film experience, shot within the four walls of the apartment of the recently deceased avant-garde artist Tomislav Gotovac, the director attempts not only to document one work of art that is fascinating, and thus render an homage to a great artist and friend, but also to create another, yet different, very personal film about an artist in his own intimate space, a film about being “by one’s self”, about the moments in which melancholy, sadness and loneliness reach to the surface, about emotions which are not unfamiliar to anyone, and which this artist lays bare and integrates into his own artistic work, just as he does with his whole life. It is precisely this that the author has tried to capture in this film, with Tomislav Gotovac and about Tomislav Gotovac. |
