Representatives of the Croatian Film Association, young filmmakers Rebeka Čuljak and Miran Ratković invited to be SPECIAL JURY MEMBERS at Giffoni Experience!
Last July in the Italian town of Giffoni was held Giffoni Experience - one of the largest international children and youth film festival which established itself as a leader in the events of this type in the last 44 years and under this successful brand spread to almost all parts of the globe - so there is Giffoni Hollywood, Giffoni Macedonia, Giffoni Australia, Brazil Giffoni... The basic feature of the festival held under the supervision of the brand Giffoni Experience is that the program consists of films for children and youth (film professionals from the industry), and films are also assessed by children and youth. For example every summer at Giffoni in Italy come more than 3,500 children from around the world. The Croatian delegation was represented by the Croatian Film Association and young filmmakers from successful member associations: Photo Video Club Zaprešić and Cinema Club Karlovac. So Lucija Majnarić and Rebeka Čuljak from Zaprešić and Miran Ratković from Karlovac stayed in Giffoni. All three high school students participated in the work of the jury in the age group from 13 to 16 years. Their leader Jura Troje, a longtime associate of the Croatian Film Association and media educator in elementary school Ivan Goran Kovačić commented in one of the reports from Italy: After a very difficult and excellent film Croatian representatives shined - Miran commented on gay rights and the referendum on marriage, while Rebeka excellently analysed mode and means of expression used in the film. I am very proud!
One of the rules at Giffoni is that jury members are not repeated (so that as many children as possible would get the experience), unless they highlighted their presence at the festival. So, the news that Rebeka and Miran found yesterday in their email inbox certainly confirms Jura's pride: You are elected a special member of the jury for a new edition of Giffoni Experience which will be held from July 17 to 26, 2015. This year we have a particularly important role for you: you need to be on an even higher level than last year. Your presence and your opinion really matters to us and we want to make you an example and leader of the new young guarantors! Success like this is just additional confirmation that the Croatian Film Association has certainly chosen best representatives of the young filmmakers to present Croatia and Croatian children and youth film in the world, and these young people have been successfully educated and prepared for their, not necessarily film careers at clubs all over Croatia (in this case, Photo Video Club Zaprešić and Cinema Club Karlovac) for many years.
We congratulate Rebeka and Miran and wishthem success in this year's Giffoni. Two more children and youth members who have won awards at last year's edition of the children's and youth film festivals will accompany them this year. Awards like these will not only allow them to meet peers from around the world and share experiences on film, but will very likely launch some new film stories.
