TOGETHER WITH THE NEW YEAR, WE ARE CELEBRATING THE SUBMISSION PERIOD FOR YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL AND FOUR RIVER FILM FESTIVAL!
If you still haven't tried your luck in filmmaking, this is the right opportunity. Submissions for the 20th Youth Film Festival and 8th Four River Film Festival, i.e. national and international festivals dedicated to high school film have begun. In a somewhat extended and early edition, young filmmakers will once again push the boundaries of entertainment, put their artistic abilities to the test and sharpen all their senses from June 23-27, 2015 in Karlovac in the organization of Croatian Film Club’s Association and Cinema Club Karlovac.
With over 300 submissions from 36 countries of the world, 4,000 spectators and 180 international guests Youth Film Festival and Four River Film Festival were truly hit destinations for high school film, but also a chance for teenagers to find their own place in the world by observing it through a camera. In addition to high school films in the competition program, Youth Film Festival is known for its accompanying program which tries to follow the work of teenagers from year to year by organizing workshops, round tables, excursions and performances by musical bands. If everything mentioned above combined with visiting Karlovac during the ‘yellow fever’ is not incentive enough for you, we have more tricks up our sleeve. This is an established film event which is displayed in one of the most beautiful film halls in the world - on the banks of the four rivers in Karlovac, every night on a different location.
If you are between 14 and 20 years old and you made a film no later than January 2013 you can compete in four categories - fiction, animation, documentary and freestyle. Last year we introduced a fifth category, which will change from year to year, depending on the wishes and interests of young authors. In 2015 the fifth category will be devoted to gastronomic film. Does film go through our stomach? Authors of gastronomic films will tell us this year in film recipes, films starring food and everything else that combines film and food. There are more and more authors of gastro films, so we decided to give them a chance in Karlovac.
Youth Film Festival and Four River Film Festival can be very starting points in your career and future creative work. Great examples for that are winners at previous editions of the festivals like directors Kaja Šišmanović and Dario Lonjak, producers Ivana Kelava and Marina Jurišić, editors Maida Srabović, Tomislav Stojanović and Bojan Perić, animators Luka Hrgović and Justina Kosir, all of whom are today successful professionals in the film world. The deadline for submission of your films for the Youth Film Festival is March 1, and this year the applications need to be submitted online via this link.
